I found this view on the second day of the Pewaukee Waterfront Art Fair plein air competition. It took me five hours, which is longer than I usually paint in one session, so I had to chase the light as it rotated all my shadows. But I really wanted it to be a more finished piece, so I'm glad I stuck it out and finished it. The extra time in the sun also gave me a valuable lesson in proper sun screen application, a lesson I'm still feeling the effects of a week later. :)
