This is the second of two paintings I made for the Plein Air at the Fair competition at the Wisconsin State Fair. I started the underpainting hours before I knew the light would be where I wanted it, which freed me up to paint each child on the ride individually. It was an exhilarating experience, watching for the chosen individual to come around into view again and again, hurrying to capture their tiny flying bodies one glimpse at a time.
